Using voice notes successfully
99% of salespeople don’t use them - a great way to stand out!
Nia Woodhouse recently shared that LinkedIn voice notes are on of her most successful channels. She has three tips:
Don't rely on sequences to tell you when to send voice notes. Instead, be reactive to your prospects' activities, as events or connections could have occurred weeks before your scheduled message.
Keep your voice notes under 60 seconds. The value of this channel is that you can cater to how your prospect likes to be messaged. Longer notes defeat the purpose.
Focus on active LinkedIn users. There's no point in social selling if your prospects aren't active on the platform. However, even if someone doesn't post actively, they might still be scrolling and engaging.
Here’s a video where Nia shared more about how she uses voice notes to book meetings.
How to book meetings with voice notes
Thibault Souyris shared in a blog post his process on booking meetings with LinkedIn voice notes:
Step 1: Know how to send voice notes
Download the LinkedIn mobile app (iOS or Android)
You can only send voice notes to 1st degree connections
Locate the microphone icon in the messaging section to record (max 60 secs)
Step 2: Create curiosity
Use a framework: Trigger > Question > Teaser > Call-to-Action
Step 3: Do it daily
Practice sending one voice note per day for two weeks
Tips: Practice with friends, stand and walk while recording, treat it casually
Tips:
- Stand and walk while recording
- Treat it casually like leaving a note for a friend
Rules for LinkedIn voice messages
Augusto Ferreira recommends a clear strategy for using voice notes effectively in outbound communication:
1. Structure of the voice note
- Start by expressing gratitude for the connection.
- Demonstrate that you've done your research and are genuinely curious about them.
- Include specific keywords like their company's headquarters or the location of their staff.
2. Rules for voice notes
- Keep it under 30 seconds.
- Maintain a casual tone and show interest in their daily activities.
- Make the recipient feel valued and important.
- Aim to follow up within three days.
3. Following up:
- Depending on the recipient's personality, you can ask for feedback on your voice message.
- Alternatively, sending a funny meme can also be effective in keeping the conversation light-hearted and engaging.
